Biography
Greg Mavronicolas brings to the firm a depth of experience in litigation, commercial arbitration, and corporate law. He has worked for a high-end, large commercial litigation firm, Stikeman Elliott LLP, in Montreal, as well as the United States Department of Justice and the American Civil Liberties Union. Prior to forming MLG, he worked for a boutique firm that concentrated on commercial litigation and international arbitration. He has experience with all aspects of litigation and has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil litigations in both Federal and State court. In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Mavronicolas has also been involved with several successful arbitrations and mediations and has been before the American Arbitration Association, the Society of Maritime Arbitrators, JAMS, the National Arbitration Forum and the Rice Millers Association.
Mr. Mavronicolas also leads the firm’s business law and general corporate practice and serves as an outside counsel for several businesses where he provides advice on business and corporate law issues. Mr. Mavronicolas works with entrepreneurs and represents numerous startup, technology, design, media and fashion companies. His startup clients include both venture-backed, and emerging companies in all stages of development. He also frequently counsels clients in the fields of copyright and trademark law and advises his clients during the selection, clearance, development and prosecution of their copyrights and trademarks. Mr. Mavronicolas also represents clients in legal actions involving intellectual property infringement claims and has experience handling numerous high-profile matters involving copyright and trademark disputes and UDRP proceedings in the United States and around the world.
Mr. Mavronicolas is also active in the firm’s entertainment law practice and works with a broad range of entertainment clients including free-lancers, authors, entertainers, artists, photographers, publishers, producers, writers and production companies.
He also represents clients in commercial real estate transactions and provides advice to clients on various compliance matters including but not limited to those matters that involve Federal Trade Commission compliance, data security and privacy compliance and U.S. trade sanctions compliance.
Mr. Mavronicolas earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Communication Arts (with a focus on Radio, TV and Film) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was the recipient of a full academic Federation Scholarship to the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he was awarded a Master of International Relations degree with Distinction (with a focus on international law). He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane University Law School, where he was a managing editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. While at Tulane University Law School he was also awarded a Certificate in Environmental Law and a Certificate of Mediation Training. Prior to law school, Mr. Mavronicolas worked at the law firm of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres and Friedman LLP in New York City.
Mr. Mavronicolas was selected to the New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2018. No more than 2.5% of the attorneys in the New York Metro receive this distinction. Rising Stars are selected through a combination of peer nominations, evaluations, and independent research. In 2024, Mr. Mavronicolas was also selected to the prestigious New York Metro Super Lawyers list, awarded to only 5% of attorneys in the New York Metro.
